A brief introduction of our office
The Director of Land Records & Surveys and Joint Land Reforms Commissioner, W.B. is generally appointed and discharges the functions of the District Election Officer, Kolkata South. The present District Election Officer, Kolkata South is an IAS officer of 2006 batch.
As a dynamic officer of his kind, he held the charges of the first District Magistrate of Kolkata district comprising 144 wards of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation spreading across 200 Sq. Kms as the Officer-on-Special Duty, Kolkata District vide P&AR Department’s notification no. 3203-PAR(WBCS)/1D-205/2012 dated 21/09/2012 read with Land & Land Reforms Department’s notification no. 8587-Estt/1E-130/2009 dtd. 17/10/2012.
Survey Building, the District Election Office, Kolkata South, was constructed in the year 1888. A building designated as one of the heritage buildings of Kolkata by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, it is located at 22° 31′ 25.1″ North & 88° 20′ 16.1″ East.
