Celebration of the 14th National Voters' Day
National Voters Day is celebrated on 25 January to encourage the youth to participate in the vote in the electoral process. It not only encourages the youth to participate in the electoral process but also focuses on the fact that the right to vote is a basic right.
It was celebrated on 25 January. The main objective behind the celebration is to encourage, facilitate, and maximise enrolment, especially for new voters. The day has been celebrated since 2011 across the country to mark the foundation of the Election Commission of India, i.e. 25th January 1950.
It is celebrated every year with a particular theme. The year 2024 NVD , the theme , ‘Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure’is dedicated to voters and conveys individuals’ feelings and aspirations toward participation in the electoral process through the power of their vote.
The national voters day 2024 was celebrated in our state at different levels - at polling station locations (PSL), Blocks , Subdivisions , District headquarters and at the State . As mandated by the Commission , NVD celebration was held on the 25th January , 2024 , with enthusiasm the gravity of the programme for maximum participation of the elector . Like previous years , Drawing /poster , Debate , Quiz , Essay and Slogun competitions were held as per SVEEP plan .Competitions were conducted among ELC members , Future voters , students and Young electors .
This year, Hon’ble District Election Officer Dr Rashmi Kamal present in the district level celebration of National Voters Day. Awards are conferred to the winners of district level competitions . Other stakeholders like AROs AEROs and BLOs are also felicitated . Voters pledge read out with honour .
The new voters were also felicitated and handed over their Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC).
With 91.2 crore eligible voters , India is the largest democracy in the world . Due to the relentless efforts of the ECI , there is a steady increase in the voting turnout . Further there has been a n increase in the number of polling station.
National Voters' Day is an important day celebrated in India every year with proper honour and importance , to spread awareness among the youth so that they can cast their votes for a responsible person and participate in the development of the country.
